Traditional Fishing Boat and East Cliff Lift Hastings

Traditional Fishing Boat and East Cliff Lift Hastings

A detail of one of the small wooden trawlers that used to make up most of the fishing fleet in Hastings, East Sussex. Hastings is home to one of Britain's oldest fishing fleets and the largest beach (as opposed to harbour) based fishing fleet in Europe. In the background is the East Cliff Lift which opened in 1903 and is the steepest funicular railway in the UK.
