The Dunes of Maspalomas
Taken at the shores of Maspalomas of Gran Canaria in June 2018 by Robert Barnes© Maspalomas is a resort town in the south of Gran Canaria, in Spain’s Canary Islands. It’s known for its vast expanse of coastal dunes. These encompass the Maspalomas Dunes nature reserve. It contains several ecosystems, including the La Charca Lagoon, palm groves and the dunes, rich in birdlife like plovers, snipes and herons. The tall, slender Maspalomas Lighthouse has been operating since the late 19th century.
