1st Green at Cape Cornwall

The 1st Green at Cape Cornwall golf course, the course itself is 5,312 yards from the yellow tees, par 69, with a range of both gentle and challenging holes. The par 3 thirteenth, the 'Cream Pot' is probably the only hole in golf enclosed within a walled garden.

In the rough

A 5 wood about to play from the rough grass. A wood is a type of club used in the sport of golf. Woods have longer shafts and larger, rounder heads than other club types, and are used to hit the ball longer distances than other types. Woods are so called because, traditionally, they had a club head that was made from hardwood, generally persimmon, but modern clubs have heads made from metal, for example, titanium, or composite materials, such as carbon fibre.

Leeds Castle Golf 2

This delightful nine-hole, par 33, 2681 yard course was built on the 500 acre Leeds Castle Estate in 1924. The maturity of the parkland surrounding Leeds Castle provides both challenging and spectacular holes from start to finish. During its 900 year history, Leeds Castle has been a Norman stronghold, the private property of six of England’s medieval Queens and a palace used by Henry VIII. In the 1930s the castle was a playground for the rich and famous. I have permission from Leeds Castle to use these images.

On the Tee

The 1-wood, or driver, is the lowest-lofted, longest, and often lightest club in a players bag, and is meant to launch the ball the longest distance of any club. Originally, the driver was only slightly larger than any other wood and was designed to be used from the tee or the fairway, but with the advent of hollow metal clubhead construction, the driver has become highly specialised for use off the tee by incorporating an oversized head and a deep striking face to maximize the sweet spot.
