The Travelling Moai
The lone moai, sometimes known as the Travelling Moai, that stands at the entrance to Ahu Tongariki with the full span of the volcanic crater of Ranu Raruku rising behind it. Just after sunrise, the cliff sides of the crater, originally the quarry of the moai, are beautifully illuminated despite the looming storm clouds gathering above.

Often called one of the prettiest scenes in the Peak District, Peakshole Water is a small stream in the village of Castleton that flows through a line of beautiful, ancient cottages. The stream originates in Peak Cavern, part of the limestone cliffs that tower over the cottages and known locally as the Devil's Arse!
Glory Sunrise over Derwentwater
A winter glory sunrise over Derwentwater with frost clinging to the reeds and low cloud hanging in the valley, perfect for catching the colours of the rising sun. The silhouette of Catbells is part of this iconic scene from the northern shores of the lake, close to the lovely town of Keswick.
A Hazy Start to the Day
A cold morning sees low cloud in the valley and mist over the surface of the lake at Derwentwater. The early winter sunshine is yet to get to work on burning it off. Yachts in the marina await their owners and Catbells stands tall waiting for the hikers that will flock to climb its summit.

From the northern shores of Derwentwater, an uninterrupted view is afforded of the sun rising across its calm, misty surface and onto the surrounding hills. Such a great expanse of water provides a glorious opportunity for cloud reflections, seeming almost to create a halo of gold.

The Lake District lends itself to beautiful sunsets, with calm waters reflecting back the colours of the sky. Near the Keswick launch jetties a fabulous view is afforded along the length of Derwentwater to fully appreciate the splendour, with Catbells and Derwent Island on the right.

A winter sunrise creates a beautiful sky which is reflected down the full length of Derwentwater as viewed from Keswick. The silhouette shape of Catbells is prominent. A low haze lies across the water and white frost still clings to the treeline leading around to Town Cass and Crow Park.

Low cloud and mist hangs over the lake and hillsides at Derwentwater on an early winter morning. The first rays of the sun illuminate the clouds in a golden hue against a clear azure sky, promising a perfect crisp day to come in the beautiful surroundings of the Lake District.

The bridges over the River Clyde in Glasgow lend themselves beautifully to black and white photography, with their differing architectural styles creating contrasts of shapes, textures, shadow and light. To the right is the George the Fifth Bridge with the arches of Glasgow Bridge visible underneath the two Caledonian Railway Bridges.
Wells Next the Sea at Night
Night falls at Wells Next the Sea quayside on the North Norfolk coast, with the Old Granary building bathed in the soft glow of streetlights. The scene is enhanced by a rare close up view of the iconic metal horse sculpture, a tribute to the horses that used to pull the lifeboat in and out of the sea, usually situated on the far sandbank of the East Fleet estuary.
Coastal Serenity - Rhosneigr Beach Sunset
Rhosneigr is famed for its stunning sunsets. Here the sun casts a golden glow over the broad sandy beach of Traeth Crigyll at the western end of the town. The lone house, expanse of empty sand and the gentle water flowing out to sea create a calm scene - until the jets of RAF Happy Valley fly over of course!
High Tor - Derbyshire Dales
The Derbyshire Dales are truly beautiful with lush green hills and woods. Set in the midst of this scenery is the imposing High Tor cliff, which towers over Matlock Dale and is the last place in England where eagles nested. The scene captures the popular walking route from Matlock on the left along the Giddy Edge cliff top route, with Riber Castle in the background. Taken from the Heights of Abraham path.
Back Tor - Peak District
The Great Ridge Walk between Mam Tor and Lose Hill is one of the most loved walks for its beautiful scenery and stunning views. The section from Hollins Cross to Back Tor confronts you with a steep rocky scramble - tiny figures silhouetted at the summit enjoy a much needed rest and soak up the beauty.
Sunlit Bluebells
Beautiful spring sunlight streams through the canopy of beech trees at Badbury Clump perfectly illuminating the swatches of bluebells that carpet the ground around them. A total treat to the senses, the image recalls the peace and tranquillity of the woodland with only the sounds of nature to complement the scene.
Lloyds of London
Otherwise known as the Inside Out Building, Lloyds is an iconic building within the heart of the City of London financial district. The building is a leading example of radical Bowellism architecture in which the services for the building, such as ducts and elevators, are located on the exterior to maximise space in the interior.
Stow's Tolkien Door
The north door of St Edward's Church in Stow-on-the-Wold is framed by ancient yew trees, grown over the years to become an inherent part of the framework. It is rumoured that this scene gave JRR Tolkien inspiration for the “Doors of Durin,” the west gate of Moria that appears in a scene in the The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
Sunflare over Findhorn Beach Huts
Deliberately looking to capture a sunflare to complement the lovely yellow beach hut in this row at Findhorn. The view looks along the row towards the sandy beach and where Findhorn Bay flows out to the sea, a popular basking spot for the many seals that gather there.
Stonehaven War Memorial
Designed by local architect, John Ellis, the War Memorial honours those lost from the local area in the first two world wars. It can be seen standing proudly on Black Hill from nearly all parts of Stonehaven town. An inscription carved into the stone at the top of the temple is written: "One by one death challenged them, they smiled in his grim visage and refused to be dismayed"
Doc Martin's Portwenn
For many Port Isaac in Cornwall is better known as Portwenn, the fictional town in the Doc Martin TV series. Roscarrock Hill has been used extensively for filming. The central stone house, Fern Cottage, is Doc Martin's residence and surgery. To the right is Mrs Potter's house and to the lower left is Bert's restaurant.
Sunburst at the West Pier, Brighton
The iconic West Pier in Brighton draws crowds of people every evening to watch the sun set. Taken on 10th February 2022, over 3,500 students, friends and families were treated to this sunset as Brighton University celebrated a return to in-person graduation ceremonies at the Brighton Centre.
