Red Mount Chapel
Photographed on summers evening in the golden hour One popular gathering place for pilgrims en route to Little Walsingham was the Red Mount Chapel in King's Lynn. The chapel was built in 1485 as a wayside chapel for pilgrims landing at King's Lynn; a place to stop and pray before undertaking the overland journey to Walsingham, or to pray before leaving England after a visit to the shrine. It was known as the Chapel of Our Lady of the Mount The Walks.

The Flying Scotsman
The Iconic Flying Scotsman carring the Great Britain X1 on the tuntable just outside Scarborough being turned round to head back to Scarborough Railway Station to collect it''s carriage to continue on with the rest of the excursion.. The Flying Scosman is a Pacific Class Steam Locomotive desined by Sir Nigel Gressley.
158 SQUADRON LISSET
Lissett opened in February 1943 and No. 158 Squadron RAF arrived from RAF Rufforth to be the resident squadron on 28 February. 158 Squadron was a heavy bomber squadron equipped with the four-engined Handley Page Halifax. The squadron flew the first operational mission on the night of 11/12 March 1943 when ten aircraft were flown to Stuttgart.
Kings Lynn Custom House
One of King's Lynn's most treasured historic buildings is the iconic 17th-century Custom House, overlooking the site of the town's medieval harbour. The Custom House was built by Sir John Turner in 1683 and designed by architect Henry Bell. It opened in 1685 as a merchant's exchange and as a place to regulate trade through the port seen here in the golden hou on a Winters afternoon

South Landing Beach
South Landing beach lies on the south side of Flamborough Head, just over 3 miles north-east of Bridlington, within an area which has been designated a Local Nature Reserve. At low tide, a number of rockpools, teeming with crabs, small fish and other wildlife can be found in and around the chalk-reef.

GWR 2857
2857 was completed at Swindon in April 1918 at a cost including tender of £5,948. During a working career of 45 years, 2857 recorded a total mileage of 1,276,713 miles and, to judge from the depots to which it was allocated, must have operated over virtually all the GWR routes. St Martins Burton Agnes
St Martin's Church, situated behind the Burton Agnes Norman Manor House, dates from the twelfth-century. The chancel has mid-nineteenth century restoration carried out by Archdeacon Wilberforce, son of the reformer William Wilberforce. Many of the family tombs are of considerable historic and architectural interest.
Scarborough North Bay
Scarborough is a resort town on England’s North Sea coast. Its 2 bays with sandy beaches are split by a headland bearing the 12th-century Scarborough Castle. The Victorian Central Tramway funicular train links the town centre with South Bay and its harbour, this image of the southbay was taken from the iconic Scarborough Castle high on the cliffs. - A replacement sky has been added to his image.
The Grand Hotel
From High on Scarborough South Cliff one of the Town's landmarks is clearly visible to the eye, Scarborough was one of the first seaside resorts and the Hotel was built to cater for this new phenoneum created by the coming of the 'Railways', originally the hotel was built in a V shape to represent Victory
St Nicholas Church, Grindale
A large country church looking out across farm fields, St Nicholas is almost entirely a product of the Victorian period. One of the sole concessions to earlier history is a much restored Norman tub font, with a larger early font bowl on the floor beside it. The carved bowl supposedly came from the vanished church at Argham. The first historical record of a church at Grindale comes from the year 1153, when a curate named Serls resigned his Prebendary post for unknown reasons. Most of the early curates of St Nicholas's were supplied by the nearby Priory. The medieval church was almost completely rebuilt in 1874 under the patronage of the Lloyd Greames family of Sewerby

The Patricia is a purpose built aid to navigation tender of 2,500 tons with a work programme which requires her to cover the English and Welsh coast, maintaining buoys, servicing lighthouses and lightships and, on occasion dealing with ship wrecks that are a danger to navigation. U Class 31806
31806 is the only survivor of the U class locomotives that was originally built as a K class 2-6-4T. It was originally built at Brighton as A806 River Torridge in 1926 but following the accident at Sevenoaks was rebuilt as a U class 2-6-0 at Brighton in 1928 She is seen here at Grosmont Station taking part in the NYMR 2015 Autumn Steam Gala.

She was built by Cook, Welton & Gemmell as a replacement for the original Yorkshire Belle, that was lost in the River Humber during the Second World War after hitting a magnetic mine, sinking with all hands

Seeking shelter in Bridlington Bay meets RAF Search & Rescue Sea King training on this ccold windy day.

Flamborough Head
Flamborough Head has one of the most important seabird colonies in Europe. In summer the cliffs are packed with tens of thousands of breeding auks, gannets, gulls and puffins, creating a memorable experience. The chalk grassland, especially in Holmes Gut, is rich in flowers attracting butterflies and a number of uncommon moths. Please note the Sky has been replaced.
Flamborough Lighthouse
A lighthouse was first built on the Flamborough Headland in 1669 but was never lit. The current lighthouse was built in 1806 and acts as a waypoint for deep sea vessels and coastal traffic as well as marking the Flamborough Headland for vessels heading for the ports of Scarborough and Bridlington.
All Saints Church
In Barmston, there is evidence that a church existed on the site of All Saints' Church back in the 12th century and some of the structure of the current building dates back to that period. There are several other old and interesting buildings which add to the charm of the village environment. A not insignificant amount of the coastline together with a number of properties and other structures have been lost to coastal erosion. The Sky has been replaced.
Atlantic Puffin
Puffins are any of three species of small alcids (auks) in the bird genus Fratercula. These are pelagic seabirds that feed primarily by diving in the water. They breed in large colonies on coastal cliffs or offshore islands, nesting in crevices among rocks or in burrows in the soil. Two species, the tufted puffin and horned puffin, are found in the North Pacific Ocean, while the Atlantic puffin is found in the North Atlantic Ocean.
Flamborough North Landing
This small, picturesque beach of North Landing is flanked by stunning chalk cliffs, which are backed by grassy hills. It is situated in a natural cove on the north side of the Flamborough headland, about 7 miles south-east of Reighton. The beach here is a mix of soft sand and pebbles. At low tide this can be a good place to hunt for marine wildlife in the rockpools, although care must be taken as the rocks can get very slippery.
MV Brittania
Britannia departed the Fincantieri ship yard on 27 February 2015 for Southampton via Gibraltar. Britannia was officially named on 10 March 2015 by Queen Elizabeth II at the Ocean Terminal. Today she is on a Tour of Britain she approached Flamborough Headland emerging from the heavy rain in the North Sea, she was met by a host of Boats from Bridlington Harbour we were sailing on the Yorkshire Belle
St John The Baptist Church
Carnaby church dedicated to St John the Baptist was designated a Grade II listed building in 1966 and is now recorded in the National Heritage List for England, maintained by Historic England. Carnaby is approx. two Miles from Bridlington the parish includes the villages of Haisthorpe and Wilsthope.

Spurn Point Lighthouse
The Iconic Spurn Point Lightouse stands on the top of the penninsular which is covered with grasses and shrubs that help to stem the constant shifting sands, not to mention the powerfull north sea that breaches the penninsular several times a year so much so that the families of the lifeboat crew are to be rellocated in the near future.

On the cliff's edge, left abandoned to the elements is the old towing tractor which used to launch and land the many small fishing vessel that plyed their trade from Flamborough North Landing,salt air has speeded up the erosion process to such an extent that the paintwork has given in to rust, creating a patchwork of textures so inadvertingly enhancing further this scenic part of the East Yorkshire Coast
Spurn Point
Reaching to the most southerly point of the Spurn Penninsular the North Sea gives way to the mouth of the Humber, on the horizon is the coast of Linclonshire. Overlooking these busy seaways is the RNLI Lifeboat Station and the Humber Pilots who guide all the sea traffic to the Ports of Hull and Imingham some vessells will go to the Inland Port of Goole, it is very hard to grasp the sheer length of these beaches that circumnavigate the penninsula, everywhere there is signs of the costant erosion and sifting sands.
Flamborough North Landing
One of Flamborough's Iconic Landings, this inlet in years past was popular with smugglers it boasts severall caves and before modern development gave an ideal landing point, time has changed the Landing as this photograph shows, there used to be a RNLI Station which is situated at the top of the ramp, the Building is now used by the local fishing comunity. Cobles old and new are pulled high on the launch ramps out of the reach of the North Sea; the limestone cliffs are on the southern side of the North Landing.
Our Georgina
A Wooden fishing cobble Our Georgina tied up at Flamborough's North Landing, since the decline of the fishing industry cobles have been left to rot in what was a thriving fishing cove, now only two operate and they operate sailing trips for the paying public during the summer season. Our Georgina is a traditional sailing coble that used to operate in the east coast water, now a few survive on Tyneside.
Bempton Cliffs
An early morning Image of the Bempton Cliffs which is a Seabird Santuary run by the RSPB the viewing points for the public stand out against the grass cliff tops where they can see Gannets, Puffins plus a variety of other seabirds, Bempton Cliffs are part of the Flamborough Headland the cottages on the cliff top at Thonwick Bay can be seen in the distance, the cliffs then pass the North Landing curling round to the Headi itself and the lighthouses which are out of shot
Sea Fret in The Twilight Zone
As evening closes in with the sun low in the western skies a sea fret(mist) moves inland casting shadows over the bay and throws it's cape over the town, The Photograph was taken at Danes Dyke looking southwards over Bridlington Bay, in days gone by the Dyke was used by Smugglers to evade the Customs Men
Fraisthorpe Wind Farm
Fraisthorpe Wind Farm is situated on agricultural land south of Bridlington and north of Barmston - with the closest settlement being the hamlet of Fraisthorpe.Consented in 2013, the wind farm will consist of nine turbines with a total installed capacity of 29.7MW. BayWa r.e. acquired Fraisthorpe Wind Farm from TCI Renewables in December 2014. BayWa r.e. will now progress construction of the project, with a view to commercial generation of electricity from the site in 2016.
Carnegie Library, Kins Lynn.
Library. 1904 by HJ Green. Cut carstone, red brick, terracotta dressings. Plain tiled roofs. Paid for by public subscription to which Andrew Carnegie largely contributed and who attended opening 18 May 1905. Large, fan-shaped island block. Gothic style with Arts and Crafts influence.
Tower Gardens - Kings Lynn
Of the 60 Franciscan friaries that existed in England prior to the suppression in 1538, significant remains of only 16 exist. Greyfriars Tower is one of only three remaining in the country, and is the most attractive and complete. The tower is a key landmark in King's Lynn. It owes its survival to this as, for centuries, it proved useful as a seamark for traders and sailors navigating the difficult waters of the Wash.
Black 5 45428
The Black Fives were a mixed traffic locomotive, a do-anything go-anywhere type, designed by Stanier, who had previously been with the GWR. In his early LMS days, he designed his Stanier Mogul 2-6-0 in which he experimented with the GWR school of thought on locomotive design. A number of details in this design he would never use again realising the superiority of details not used on the GWR. Stanier realised that there was a need for larger locomotives. These were to be the LMS version of the GWR Halls but not a copy, as the Hall was too wide to run most places in Britain. They shared similar cylinder arrangement (two outside), internal boiler design and size and 6 foot driving wheel diameters.
Kings Lynn Custom House
The King's Lynn Custom House is one of the town's most iconic landmarks. It was designed by architect Henry Bell and built by Sir John Turner in 1683. It was not the first Custom House built for the town – originally one was constructed in 1620 on the site where the Hogge Mansion is currently located (currently occupied by Barclay's Bank); however, this was too small and as a result a larger one was needed; St George's Guildhall was used in the intervening years.[citation needed] It is a Grade I listed building.
Captin Vancover Memorial
Captain George Vancouver (22 June 1757 – 10 May 1798) was a British officer of the Royal Navy best known for his 1791–95 expedition, which explored and charted North America's northwestern Pacific Coast regions, including the coasts of what are now the American states of Alaska, Washington, and Oregon, as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia. He also explored the Hawaiian Islands and the southwest coast of Australia. Vancouver Island and the city of Vancouver, both in British Columbia, are named for him, as is Vancouver, Washington in the United States. Mount Vancouver, on the Canadian–American border between Yukon and Alaska, and New Zealand's sixth-highest mountain, also Mount Vancouver, are also named for him
Overlooking Filey
Filey Bay from the Hunmanby on the East Yorkshire Wolds, showing the Bay from the south west from this advantage point the extent of Filey Brigg protuding out into the North Sea can be appreciated as the almost high tide crashes over the rocks, There is not many coastal resorts can boast a Yacht Club set into a nearby cliff but the Brigg plays hosts to the club which can just be seen. A true place where the rural lifestyle meets the Seafolk.
Walled Garden
A walled garden is a garden enclosed by high walls for horticultural rather than security purposes, although originally all gardens may have been enclosed for protection from animal or human intruders. In temperate climates, the essential function of the walls surrounding a walled garden is to shelter the garden from wind and frost, though they may also serve a decorative purpose.
A Formal Garden
This Garden is divided into four areas with flowerbeds in all areas the main feature is the Monkey Trees in all shapes and sizes. Reaching up to 30m in height, monkey puzzle has a stout, almost cylindrical trunk with smooth bark that has a purplish-brown colour. The base of a large tree can resemble an elephant's foot.
D7628 Sybilla
D7628 Sybilla The British Rail Class 25 diesel locomotives, also known as Sulzer Type 2 were a class of 327 locomotives built between 1961 and 1967 for British Rail. They were numbered in two series, D5151-D5299 and D7500-D7677. She is now in preservation and can be seen running on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway

The Q6 was an unglamorous freight workhorse that plied the tracks of the north east of England for 50 years. Remarkably, along with the class J27s, it was one of the very few pre-Grouping steam locomotives to survive right up to the end of steam on British Railways. Pocket Rocket
115 Standard Moguls were built between 1952 and 1957 and were found everywhere in Britain except for the Western Region which had a plentiful supply of former GWR engines. Examples allocated to the North-Eastern region were usually seen working across the Stainmore route, whose viaducts required light, but powerful engines.76079 prover to be very popular in preservation and aquired the nickname 'Pocket Rocket.
Sewerby Hall

Hover Fly
Hoverflies, also called flower flies or syrphid flies, make up the insect family Syrphidae. As their common name suggests, they are often seen hovering or nectaring at flowers; the adults of many species feed mainly on nectar and pollen, while the larvae (maggots) eat a wide range of foods
Sewerby Cricket Pavilion
A cricket club that was founded in 1890 is celebrating its 131 year anniversary this year. Sewerby Cricket ground is situated on Sewerby cliff top in front of the Georgian grandeur of Sewerby Hall and boasts a panoramic view. It has also regularly been named as one of the most picturesque cricket grounds in the country. The Club is proud of its pavilion incorporating excellent changing facilities for players and officials. The tea room is renowned for its high standards of refreshments, the electronic score board and a fantastic view that is difficult to surpass.

It has been named Joem, a combination of the locomotive's former owner's parents: Joseph and Emily, though it never carried this name in service In contrast to the normal black paint finish, this loco operates in a hybrid NER/LNER/BR apple green paint scheme. It re-entered service in 2010 and visited many heritage railways. No. 69023 is now based on the Wensleydale Railway but returns to NELPG's base at Hopetown Carriage Works, Darlington for winter maintenance This Photograph was taken at Grosmont Station during the NELPG gala day she is pulling a Guards Van heading towards Goathland. Steam Locomotive 76084
76084 was one of the last batch of locomotives to be built at Horwich – the final locomotive was completed in. These locomotives were to be the last new-build steam that Horwich would produce finishing with 76099 in November 1957. She is seen here on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Steaming down to Grosmont through The Esk Valley at Darnell
Heritage Way - Flamborough Head
The Heritage way meanders its way along the Coast path approx seven miles sewards to the Flamborough Head which is a Nature as well as a Heritage site, people are drawn to this area not only to see the Iconic Lighthouse with it's booming Fog Horn, but to view a diverse wild life regular parties of Bird Watches can be seen at all times of the year. The Headland is guarded by steep Limestone Cliffs to both the North & South elevations, it is therefore a first choice for the Coastguards to train the Cliff Rescue Teams, off shore is very populare with divers seeking the many shipwrecks. Looking from the cliff's edge in a north easterly direction the Lightouse is eaily visable to the left and the 'Clock' Tower which is adjecent to Flamborough's Golf Course.
Battle of Britan Claas - 92 Squadron
92 Squadron was Built Sep. 1948. Unrebuilt. Withdrawn August 1964. Sold to Woodhams, Barry, but purchased from them for preservation in autumn 1973. Arrived at Wansford 7 December 1976, and underwent restoration until c 1998 when it was ready for service. 19 May 2010. Returned to Wansford for heavy overhaul.which was in progress in March 2011. She is photographed crossing Crossgates in the North Yorkshire Moors taking part in the NYMR 2018 Steam Gala..
Q6

St Marys Church Whitby
The Church of Saint Mary is an Anglican parish church serving the town of Whitby in North Yorkshire England It was founded around AD 1110, although its interior dates chiefly from the late 1700s. The church was designated a Grade I listed building on 23 February 1954. It is situated on the town's east cliff, overlooking the mouth of the River Esk overlooking the town, close to the ruins of Whitby Abbey. Church Steps, a flight of 199 steps lead up the hill to the church from the streets below. The church graveyard is used as a setting in Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula.
Ex Midlands Railways 4F 0 - 6 - 0
No. 3924 entered service in 1920 and of the 4 members of the class preserved, is the only built by the MR. It was numbered 43924 on nationalisation and was finally withdrawn by British Railways in June 1965, being sold to Woodham Bros. of Barry in South Wales. Taking part in KWVR Steam Gala 2020
Great Western Loco 4144
4144 was built at Swindon in September 1946 and withdrawn, from Severn Tunnel Junction depot, in March 1965, being sent to Woodham Bros. of Barry for cutting up. Great Western Loco 4144
4144 was built at Swindon in September 1946 and withdrawn, from Severn Tunnel Junction depot, in March 1965, being sent to Woodham Bros. of Barry for cutting up. Class 02 0 - 6- 2T No 85
No. 85 was built in 1899 by Neilson Reid for the Taff Vale Railway, which connected the Cardiff area with the coal mining industry located a few miles to the north. When the Taff Vale Railway was taken over by the GWR in 1922 the engine soon became surplus to requirements as the GWR had a policy of standardisation. In 1927 the engine was withdrawn
Fraisthorpe Beach
Fraisthorpe is a flat, sandy beach in the East Riding area of Yorkshire. It forms part of Bridlington Bay, a sandy stretch of coastline that stretches on for many miles southwards, down to the Humber Estuary Fraisthorpe like many on the East Coast has suffered from Coastal Erosion the 'Rocks' shown are actually the remains of The Pill Boxs erected in the Second World War as part of the Coastal Defences and where position several Meters Inland. * Panoramic images are NOT suitable for :- Coasters Mouse mats
Monkey Puzzle Trees
These trees' leaves are thick, tough, and sharp, scaly triangles around 1 inch at the base and 1.5 inches long. I have always found them mysterious, they can be just a few feet tall but also can grow to massive specimens - all very attractive to the eye. It is called a Monkey Puzzle as it is said that to climb one would puzzle even a monkey.
Black Five 44806
Originally numbered 4806 by the LMS, it had 40000 added to its number under British Railways after nationalisation in 1948. 44806 was one of the last locomotives to be withdrawn from service, surviving until 1968, the last year of steam on British Railways. 44806 was an early candidate for preservation, moving directly from BR to the Steamtown collection at Carnforth, where it was housed in the same locomotive depot where steam's final fires had been dropped only recently. This meant that it was not subjected to the years of neglect and parts-stripping at Woodham Brothers scrapyard in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales which was the fate of many. 61264 Departs Grosmont
Luck was on her side: 61264 was sold to Woodham Brothers scrapyard, Barry Island, the only former LNER locomotive to be sent to Barry. By the time the locomotive was rescued from scrap in 1973, the 83rd engine to leave Barry, it was last surviving ex-LNER locomotive not preserved. 61264 is one of two surviving Thompson Class B1s, but the only LNER-built example, the other being BR-built 61306 Mayflower.
Andania at NYMR
200 of the Class 40 diesel-electric locomotives were built by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows & Robert Stephenson & hawthorn, Darlington between 1958 and 1962. At one time they were the pride of the British Rail early diesel fleet and I remember them well on the North-West mainline roaring through Wigan and Warrington and pas Newton-le-Willows were some were built. After their initial success, by the time the last of the 200 were entering service they were already being replaced on some top-link duties by more powerful diesel and electric locomotives. On relegation from mainline express passenger uses, they ended up doing more 'local' passenger and freight services where they worked for many years, before retirement from regular service by 1985. At the time of writing ther are appox 20 in operation. So one could say that Andania is the stat of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (Heritage Railway) Diesel 2016 Gala, here she can be seen at Grosmont Station
Heritage Way - Flamborough Head
The Heritage way meanders its way along the Coast path approx seven miles sewards to the Flamborough Head which is a Nature as well as a Heritage site, people are drawn to this area not only to see the Iconic Lighthouse with it's booming Fog Horn, but to view a diverse wild life regular parties of Bird Watches can be seen at all times of the year. The Headland is guarded by steep Limestone Cliffs to both the North & South elevations, it is therefore a first choice for the Coastguards to train the Cliff Rescue Teams, off shore is very populare with divers seeking the many shipwrecks. Looking from the cliff's edge in a north easterly direction the Lightouse is eaily visable to the left and the 'Clock' Tower which is adjecent to Flamborough's Golf Course. Tom Clift
BR Class 26 BRCW Bo-Bo Preserved LocomotivesLocomotive Class 26 locomotives were built by the Birmingham Carriage & Wagon Company from 1958-1959. Seen here just outside Grosmont Station was seen on shunting service to collect some Carriages and take them to a convienant siding. Class 26 Diesel-Electrics are powered by Sulzer diesel engines and Crompton-Parkinson electric transmission motors. Class 26 locos weigh 72-75 tonnes and have a maximum speed of 75 mph Contemporary and Heritage-Preserved, Diesel, Diesel-Electric and Electric Locomotives Tom Clift is Seen just south of Grosmont Station On the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Letting Off Steam
Southern Region 825 Class S15 opens up the Steam Valve as she departs Goathland Station on the North Yorkshite Moors Heritagr Railway 25 was built in April 1927 at Eastleigh works near Southampton and along with most of the class was allocated to Feltham. By the time of nationalisation she was based at Exeter Junction before moving to Salisbury in 1951 and remaining there until withdrawn in January 1964.
B1 Arrival From Whitby
No.1264 B1 arriving at Platform Two at Grosmont Station from Whitby as part of the NYMR 2019 Steam Gala No. 61264 was completed and entered traffic on 5th December 1947. Used on the many express passenger services between Nottingham, Leicester and London (Marylebone), 61264 was withdrawn in November 1965. Rather than being scrapped immediately, the loco became Departmental no. 29 and was allocated to stationary boiler duties, still at Colwick., now part of the NYMR Home Fleet
The Iconic Salts Mill
Salt's Mill (or Salts Mill) is an art gallery, shopping and restaurant complex located in Saltaire, Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. It is inside a former mill, built by Sir Titus Salt. The 1853 gallery takes its name from the date of the building in which it is housed. Salt's Mill displays many paintings by local artist David Hockney, and also provides offices for Pace plc. When completed, it was the largest industrial building in the world by total floor area. It is a grade II* listed building. The mill closed in 1986, with renovation beginning the following year
The Weir
Probably one of the most photographed weir's in the North of England is the one at Salt Mills, Saltaire over which rages the River Aire in full flow heading down to Shipley and on to Leeds, The River is running high due to exceptionaly high amounts of Rain that has been experienced this winter. Repton in Winter
Repton was Restored at Eastleigh, entering Service May 1934 and was withdrawn 30th December 1962 at Basingstoke. Where she was renovated - Repton was donated by her purchaser to Steamtown USA in Vermont, who in turn loaned her to the Cape Breton Steam Railway in Canada. Some modifications were made to her to satisfy US/Canadian running requirements, most notably a high-sided coal tender - though this pattern of tender had been seen on other Schools in BR service. Now she is the 'lead' locomotive based at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway
St Martins
St Martins is the Parish Church of Burton Agnes, it is situated to the West of Buton Agnes Hall. In the chancel is a stone carving of William Wilberforce, placed there by his son Robert, who served as rector of Burton Agnes from 1840-1845. Thatched Cottage
Thornton-le-Dale (also called Thornton Dale) is a village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England, about three miles east of Pickering on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. A thatched cottage in the village has appeared on countless calendars and chocolate boxes over the years.
Mute Swan (Cygmus olor)
One of The Mute Swans on the mere at Scarborough is seen chasing away some young Males.The Swan is a large bird with a wingspan of 2.2 mters; they have an average lifespan of 10 years, they are protected by law, it is illegal to kill them, Despite their size they are a very gracefull Waterfowl
Knareborough Castle Raven
The castle belongs to the queen under her title ' The Duchy Of Lancaster'. For the celebrations in 2000, it thought it would be fitting to have a northern version of the Tower of London. The difference being that the ravens would be captive bred hand reared birds. This would mean that they would be more approachable and visitors go then stand eye ball to eye ball if they so wished without fear of being attacked. It was also a way of uplifting these magnificent birds persona, by showing people that the old superstitions surrounding ravens were misguided. Going Fishing
A sign of the times not many Deep Sea Fishing Boats tied up these days in Bridlington Harbour, the Port has become one of the leading shell fish ports exporting to many parts of Europe, so smaller boats can carry out this operation and also mainly during the Summer Season they also ply for Day Fishing Trips, however that adds to a more colourful quayside. - Onward Star leaving Port
The Scarborough Spa Express - Galatea Departure
In winter of 1994 the SVR(H) Board announced the sale of 45690 Leander and 45699 Galatea to the family of Dr. Peter Beet. 45699 was still in ex-Barry condition when it left the Severn Valley Railway in 1994. 45699 was at Tyseley until 2002 when it was sold to the West Coast Railway Company and moved to Steamtown Carnforth where it was given a complete rebuild. This also included the manufacturing of a new middle driving wheel after the original was cut through after a shunting accident at Barry Island. Gallatea returned to steam in April 2013 and operates on the main line as part of the West Coast Railway fleet. Its mainline ticket is valid until 2020.
Steam Locomotive Galetea
5699 was built at Crewe in April 1936, and later renumbered 45699 by BR following nationalisation. In August 1953 Galatea was derailed and overturned whilst hauling a passenger train at Wilnecote. The locomotive was repaired and continued in service until being withdrawn by BR in 1964. Galatea is operated by West Coast Railways, she an Ex LMS Jubilee Class 4 - 6 - 0 designed by William Stanier. She hauls the Scarborough Spa Express on most Thursdays from June Onwards operating Carnforth to Scarborough
Galatea Departure
5699 was built at Crewe in April 1936 and named Galatea after HMS Galatea, which in turn was named after the Galatea of mythology. After nationalisation in 1948, it was renumbered 45699 by British Railways. On 16 August 1953, Galatea was derailed whilst hauling a passenger train at Wilnecote. The derailment was caused by a combination of defects on the locomotive itself, and the condition of the track. Despite the locomotive ending up on its side, only 2 people were reported injured and it was hardly damaged. She is seen here hauling the Scarborough Spa Express shortly after departing from Scarborough
Driffield Canal Basin
From the old wharf to the town lock on the horizon Driffield's old canal basin has been restored and refurbished in recent years to a high standard, mills have been converted to flats the rivered has been created providing a natural habitat to the canal banks whillst an access is now available to all past the town lock to follow the canal on it's route to the Humber
Sea King 128
The Honour Fell to Sea King 128 and her crew to bid farewell to Bridlington,the RAF & the ROYAL Naval Air Sea Rescue Service is handing over to the Coastguard Sevice at the end of the Month (Operated by Bristows). She is seen landing in the Limekiln Lane Car Park adjacent to the Bridlington Coastguard Station, after landing Members of the Public were allowed on board for a quick insight into the Helicopter: The Sea King is 40 years old, so this grand old lady deserves her retirment we will be enterhaly grateful for those years of service.
Scarborough Mere
Last day of Winter an afternoon photograph looking down the Mere, in a westerley direction soon to be a hive of activity with visiting waterfowl who will breed during the spring time early summer months. The Mere on the Western side of Scarborough is managed by the Scarborough Fishing Club

Wonderfull Sunset over Filey Brigg
Filey Brigg is a long narrow peninsula situated about a mile north of Filey, North Yorkshire. Its steep cliffs are 20 metres high and consist of a variety of material, from pure sandstone to pure limestone. The landward end of the peninsula of Filey Brigg is known as Carr Naze, whilst the long neck of rock at the seaward end is called the Brigg.
Repton
By 1928 the Southern Railway was well served by large 4-6-0 express passenger locomotives, but there was an urgent need for a class to fulfill intermediate roles throughout the system. Maunsell’s previous attempt at developing his predecessor’s L class for this task had proven a disappointment, and the Drummond D15 and L12 classes were approaching the end of their useful lives on these services. An entirely new secondary express passenger locomotive was required to operate over the main lines throughout the system including those that had relatively short turntables.
4 - 4 - 0 Repton
Designed by Richard Maunsell for the Southern Railway in 1930, the V Class - better known as the Schools Class as all locomotives were named after English public schools - was intended to meet a need for an intermediate passenger locomotive for routes needed power, Repton is owned by The North Yorkshire Moors Railway wher she is taking part in the Railway's 2017 Autumn Gala she can be seen crossing the North Yorkshire Moors
Cllock Tower
The Italian Gardens were laid out by Harry W. Smith in part of the former Belvedere Gardens which had belonged to George Lord Beeforth until 1912. The shelter at the north end of the Italian Gardens bears the date 1914. Pictured here is the Clock Tower at the Main Entrance the keen observer may well recognise this building which featured in many episodes ot 'The Royal' as the TV Hospital was only accross the Road
St Michaels and All Saints
Garton's church, St Michael's and All Angels, was designated a Grade I listed building in 1966 and is now recorded in the National Heritage List for England, maintained by Historic England. It is on the Sykes Churches Trail devised by the East Yorkshire Churches Group. The church dates back to Norman times, circa 1132. In the 19th century it was restored by John Loughborough Pearson, with funding from Sir Tatton Sykes, 4th Baronet of nearby Sledmere House. Later his son.
The Royal Scot 2
The Royal Scot Class 4 - 6 - 0 is a express passenger steam locomotive running for a short period on the NYMR she is pictured here at the Trout Farm just north of Pickering, North Yorkshire. Royal Scot was renumbered 46100 from her original 6100 by British Railways following the nationalisation of the railways in 1948. She, along with other members of the class, was rebuilt by British Railways in 1950 with a new tapered design boiler. She went on to serve another 12 years in traffic on the West Coast Main Line before being retired from service in Nottingham in October 1962.
