Ewe and lamb on stone wall - Dartmoor, Jean Fry

I live on the border of the Dartmoor National Park in Devon, a place I love and where most of my photographs are taken.

I have a long photographic history going back to the days when I lived in Kent and belonged to a local 'camera club'. I learned much in those days from entering club competitions and was quite successful. I did all my own developing and printing from black and white film - working into the night in my home darkroom. Eventually, I was hired by a local studio to photograph weddings for them after assisting another photographer. Soon I was shooting weddings by myself, quickly gaining confidence and a good reputation.

Finally, I took the plunge and started working for myself, also undertaking portraiture and the occasional commercial job. During this time I became a member of the Master Photographers Association, where I succeeded in achieving a Licentiateship qualification which, with letters after my name, helped to attract clients. I also managed to win a few awards along the way. I was proud of my reputation, and although I enjoyed my work,  there was a lot of responsibility. You don't get a second chance to shoot a wedding. You have to get it right first time!

I'm retired now and for the last 10 years, I have concentrated on landscape photography,  which I love passionately and is a complete change from weddings. It seems to have taken over my life as I am always striving to improve, getting inspiration from other photographers that I admire.

I hope you will enjoy viewing my photographs, and maybe find one you like enough to perhaps hang on your wall. I shall be adding photos regularly, and if you like what you see, please come back again to see what else I have added. Thank you.
