I’d camped overnight at Flamborough and rose 4.15am to get to Selwick bay in time for the sunrise. However my early start was rewarded by this stunning sunrise that lasted for almost 30 minutes.

I’d camped overnight at Flamborough and rose 4.15am to get to Selwick bay in time for the sunrise. I was relieved to see that my efforts were rewarded by this stunning sunrise. As the sea rolled back off the beach the beautiful pink dawn light glowed off the pebbles on the beach giving some great foreground interest.
As the light in the sky grew in strength on this summer morning, I made my way towards the left hand end of Selwick bay as the sky grew ever more spectacular.

A spectacular sunrise over Staithes village. The sun rises between the headlands at Staithes in summer, so I went over long before sunrise. On this particular early September morning the day started cold and clear giving a beautiful pink glow to the pre-dawn sky in contrast to the warmth of the village street lights.
