I wanted to capture the stillness and muted warmth of the pre-dawn scene. The shot was underexposed by 2/3 of a stop to emphasise the colour starting to appear in the sky. I particularly liked the texture of the sand, the isolated rocks and the way the two coloured areas balanced the picture. I occasionally name my work after songs, certain lyrics or films and as I looked at this image, the way most of the sky was reflected below the horizon, and the unusual jet trail captured in the calm water, I knew I had my title.
